Ever wondered how much you'd make by reselling that apparently cheap item you saw on the Steam Market? But didn't want the hassle of calculating the game/Steam Market transaction fees to see if there would be any profit at all? Or have you tried to do it manually and when you saw the bargain you were checking was already gone?
With this unofficial App you can do this in a very simple way:
- Check how much you'll make if you sell an item for a certain price on the Steam Market.
- Calculate for how much you'll have to sell it to make the value you want.
- Instant calculation / result display
- Tabbed layout for easy navigation
The Steam Market fees (both game and transaction fee) are automatically calculated for you, so you can act fast on a potential profit opportunity. More features will be added in upcoming versions!
How does it work?
This app has two main tabs, the Earnings and the Sell For. On Earnings you can calculate how much you'll make by selling an item with the fees instantly calculated and removed from the final value. On the Sell For tab you can determine for how much you have to sell an item to get a certain value.
Why do I need this calculator?
This calculator lets you instantly get the value of how much you'll make selling an item on the Market, considering fees. We all sometimes see some cheap item that we thought it would make a good profit if resold, only to be surprised at how much you\'d have to resell it to even break even, less alone to make a profit. Other times you are making the math to see if it is indeed a good buy and when you're done the item is already gone. With this tool you can quickly make those calculations and grab those bargain opportunities fast!
But can't I see those values already when i'm making the transaction?
Yes you can. But to consult the earnings/price after fees on the sell page you'd have to own the item in the first place.
What are all these fees you talk about?
On the Steam Market there are two fees: the Game Fee and Steam Transaction Fee. The Game Fee is charged by the publisher of a game on the marketplace for items in that game. On Valve games it is 10%. The Steam Transaction Fee is charged by Valve on every transaction and it's 5%.
Why "Earn at Least?"
Due to the algorithm used to calculate the fees and round the values, sometimes it may display a cent (0.01) less than the guaranteed earning after fees. That means that, you will, in some cases actually make a cent (0.01) more than the displayed on the calculator. This applies only on the "Earnings" calculation.
Why no currency units(€,$ etc)?
Since fees are a fixed percentage, they are currency rate independent. In other words, it doesn't matter what your currency settings are, the calculator still works!
