STAYLIT WEAR: LONGER BACKLIGHT

Do you find your smartwatch's built-in backlight timeout period actually quite short? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could adjust the backlight timeout to have the screen stay on a little longer? (So that not only you, but also your friends can marvel at that new watchface you just installed...)

StayLit Wear lets you adjust the time that the light stays on after the watch has been waked. You can select a value for how much time will elapse from the moment that the watch has been waked from dim mode (i.e. by having tapped the screen, moved the watch, or pressed the button) to it being allowed to revert to dim mode again. Choose from a range of values of up to 5 minutes, or until you switch the screen off again.
NEW: “indefinitely+” mode: the light stays on until you switch it off, but is also switched off when you lower your arm or turn the watch away from you. That way, the light will be on exactly when you need it. (Note that also in this mode, StayLit respects the individual light timeout of apps like Google Fit, Maps, or Runtastic.)

USAGE: After installing the app on your phone, please allow approx. 30 seconds for the app to be pushed to your watch. In order to adjust the backlight timeout, open the StayLit Wear app on your watch. This will bring up the Longer Backlight settings. Select a setting in the list by tapping on it. Deactivate StayLit Wear by selecting "off“ in this list.
NOTE: Due to an issue with Android Wear 5.1, on some devices, it may be necessary to re-select the desired screen timeout each time you change the watchface. Note also that StayLit may interfere with the settings menu of the Moto 360's "Dials" watchface.

INSTALLATION TROUBLESHOOTING: After having been installed on the phone, StayLit should show up in the phone's app drawer. On the watch, the app should show up in the app menu (accessible through long pressing the watch's power button). If it still isn't showing on the watch after several minutes, try the "resync apps" option in the Android Wear app on the phone (Settings > Device settings > Resync apps). Also, make sure that you have the latest version of the Android Wear app installed on your phone. If you are having problems installing or running the app, please contact me - I will be happy to help!

NOTE: Setting a significantly longer screen timeout will reduce battery life. We recommend setting a value of 10 - 30 seconds...

Just what I needed! This app works like a charm, never faced any issues so far even with custom watchface apps, it just works flawlessly. Thanks to the dev for bringing such an essential tool into existence. And shame on Google for not including this simple but vital setting in Android Wear.

James Hartman at Jan. 15, 2015

Provides functionality which should be native to the OS Great job to PhonePhreak, this does exactly what is described. The default dimming time is often too short for the wearer, not to mention a third party being shown the watch for the first time.

Good app Is there any way of putting in a setting for the moto 360 so it goes into dim mode but stays on like the lg g watch

Xander Warrender at Jan. 3, 2015

Fantastic but a second setting would be nice. I'd like it to be able to go into ambient mode after _x_ seconds and then have another timer for leaving ambient mode. For me, I'd love to be able to keep certain apps on the screen for much longer without the watch defaulting to the watchface BUT using less power. Sooooo.... go into ambient mode after, say, 15 seconds, and then stay in ambient for 3 minutes before blacking out.

Joseph Smith at Jan. 31, 2015

Works as advertised While a setting to allow Ambient Mode to stay on longer (or always) would be great, this is a nice option to have. Nothing more annoying than looking at your watch and having the screen turn off. I have mine set to 20 seconds to help preserve battery life and it works perfectly.

Simple yet effective. I've always wanted to display my watch faces longer. I'm hoping in the future, maybe with Tasker or something, have presets depending on what time it is. For example, me at work, have it at 10 seconds or less, and when heading/commuting home, have it at 30 seconds or even a minute.

Bruce T at May 12, 2015

Good but I can't activate it. I downloaded it to my phone however it does not show on the settings in my watch help

Moto 360 On behalf of the healthcare professionals who need the screen on longer to get vials I.E. Apical pulse rates (one full minute)....thank you! (Btw...could we get a minute and like 5 seconds pretty please)

Works as promised on g watch r No problems with the app. Wish it was built into android wear...

Daniel Haste at Jan. 17, 2015

Excellent! Works like a charm on my LG G Watch R.

Even-André S Andersen at Jan. 13, 2015

It works Tried to reinstall after restarting watch and phone. Now it some how works like a charm. Think the drain was the Wear App caught in a loop syncing something. Great job with the app, and a solid 5 stars.

Majid Jackson at Feb. 6, 2015

Must have Probably the best app I have for my moto 360. Does exactly as advertised.

anthony bennett at Feb. 28, 2015

Saved me from returning the Moto 360 watch. The only thing that separated me from returning this watch was the lack of screen lighting time. Thank you so much for making this app. 5 stars easily. Glad to pay the $1.69 for this.

Dominic Jagger at March 12, 2015

Very good app App does what it says on the tin and very well. Would have got 5 stars but price is a little high for what it does. Thanks for making the app

Thien Phuc at Jan. 18, 2015

good thanks, add clock with second hand in ur app, i will donate more.

Mike Blow at March 1, 2015

A bit expensive but worth it Just what my G Watch R needed! The standard screen timeout is way too short. Google should have baked this in from the start, but it's great that devs are finding ways to improve Android Wear :)

Dominique Garrow at March 14, 2015

Doesn't always work on the LG G

David Hardy at Jan. 10, 2015

Works perfectly Does everything it needs to do. No complaints. Using an LG G Watch R.
