Please also consider Asteria Coeli, the latest astronomical atlas software containing all functions in this Sky Atlas, plus much more - and is cheaper.

Sky Atlas is not planetarium or simulation software. It is designed analog to a paper atlas for the purpose of looking up sky positions of celestial objects. The electronic form takes advantage of zooming and selection of objects to be displayed or not -- possibilities which are not available to paper. The star chart is plotted on equatorial coordinates. A star chart can be saved to external memory card for documentation purposes, such as websites or blogs.

In order to minimize installation package size, since version 1.07, large images are no longer packed in the installer. This includes deepsky, Messier and spacecraft images, as well as astronomical articles. At first application use these images will be downloaded from the internet and installed in the external memory card, thus less working memory load. All images can be downloaded any time for update purposes.

The use of Sky Atlas is believed to be simple, intuitive and largely self-explanatory, yet requiring basic knowledge of astronomy and familiarity with your Android tablet.

The application operates in landscape, reverse landscape (internal sensors required) and portrait mode (where practicable).
