At long last a smartphone version of the foremost points textbook in the Western world - A Manual of Acupuncture by Peter Deadman & Mazin Al-Khafaji, with Kevin Baker - has arrived for Android!
We hope that you will enjoy the following features:

  • Every channel and extraordinary point from A Manual of Acupuncture textbook.

  • English and Chinese point names, point category, classification, location and location notes, illustration, needling instructions and cautions, actions, clinical application and combinations.

  • Each point includes Chinese tones, printed Chinese characters and calligraphy as well as audio of the Chinese pronunciation (by tapping the calligraphy).

  • Videos for every point with commentary showing location and needling technique.

  • Illustrations for all primary, luo-connecting, divergent and sinew channels, the eight extraordinary vessels and the body area illustrations.

  • All the main point categories (e.g. five shu points, xi-cleft points, back-shu points) for easy revision.

  • Create your own point groups which you can use to tailor study and reference.

  • Multiple Choice tests so you can test yourself on all points and point categories as well as self-created point groups.

  • All points listed anywhere in the App are live links allowing easy browsing/reference.

  • You can add your own notes to channel pathways and any specific aspect of points (e.g. location, location note, needling, etc) as well as the Point Location & Needling pages in the reference section.

  • Two search functions. One simply searches point name (English or pinyin) or point number. The other allows you to search the content of every point and, if you wish, specify which channel/vessel you want to search within, which field within a point (e.g. Actions, Clinical application, Needling) and whether you want to include your own notes in the search.

  • The 12 Cutaneous Regions and Areas Reached by the Channels.

  • Reference pages including: cun measurements, location and needling guidelines, indications index, glossary of terms

  • Registered users have the additional benefits of selecting whether to show or hide their notes within the App content, how many points to include in their tests and whether videos play continuously or individually. You can also backup your user data (notes, point groups and tests results) to our server - which means if you lose or break your device you can restore your data to a new one, and, if you have the App on more than one device you can synchronise your data to all your devices.

Freezes Love this ap for use in the clinic. If it even opens, it freezes and is super sluggish. Many times i give up on it. I love the ap but wish it would work. Using an android

Jessica Ekengren at April 9, 2015

App is crashing and at times do not open up this app would be great if it is working - a lot of times the app is not opening up and at times the app just crash Really frustrating and i would to have this problem fixed. I have an android Sony device - tablet and phone

A great book now a fantastic app We used this book all the time at university and I still continue to use it. Now in its portable format, it's even more useful. My only gripe is that it's understandably a huge app and takes up a lot of memory. It would be even greater if it could be moved to an SD card

Finally the app for all Acupuncturists I have waited so long for this app and it was so worth the wait. It is the only acupuncture app out there that is exactly what is needed for points. It has the video explaining, where the location is, and even how to needle the point, and you can add your own notes as well. It loads fast on my Galaxy Note 4 and I can even zoom in and out. I have deleted all my other "point" apps since this is all I need now. Great job.

I love the app, but it freezes An invaluable app for acupuncture students, I don't go a day without opening it at least once. The only downside is that the app randomly freezes and I have to restart it.

rakesh venkatagiri at April 20, 2015

Fantastic All these years book. Now on mobile. Adapting to technology.

Michael Duvall at March 31, 2015

Acupuncture manual. Love it. It's very informative. And well needed.

Lauren Ryan at March 23, 2015

Tests and video doesn't work with new update I tried to download the application again as you recommended, and it successfully downloaded, But when I opened the app, a box appears on the screen that says "downloading assets... 0%". The box remains there and it doesn't download the assets. I tried the download yet again. Same thing. What to do now?

It's fixed!!! This app used to have some serious issues. Thankfully the dev group fixed them. Now i can give a serious rating with higher marks. The detail drawings are far better than the vast majority of other apps. The page flipping method is better than having to use the tiny buttons. I agree that the tests are still not working. But the videos are working fine.

Austin Austin at Nov. 24, 2014

Great information but freezes Surely a must for any acupuncturist, but it frequently freezes on the opening page until forced stop and restart. Does this on both my nexus 7 and smart phone. 5 stars if it didn't freeze.

Deniz Akgül at Nov. 8, 2014

Disappointed I have this installed on my iPad and knew it was such a valuable tool so I bought it as soon as it became available on Android but it's extremely slow and I lose the will to live while I'm waiting for it to open. Apple version is far better but what do I do with my phone which is a Samsung Galaxy Note 3? I don't think the problem lies in my phone.

Doraine Raichart at March 11, 2015

Crashes on LG G2 phone Not a good start: opened app 1st time, signed into account, added member email notifications and downloaded contact info. Tried to return to app, and it will not get past black screen. Please advise! How do I get this app to run?

Jeff Private at Sept. 25, 2014

Best Acupuncture App, Period I have to admit, switching from an iPhone 4s to a Galaxy Note 3, my only true lament (though I do also find the speech to text and voice command aspect to be clumsy by comparison) was that this app wasn't available. It is by far better than the rest of the acupuncture apps I have explored, which are many. I love the book that this app is based from, & I absolutely love this app! Very glad that it is now available for Android!

Valerie Solis at March 11, 2015

so happy to see this on android Got a Samsung Galaxy tab S 8.4" and at first it worked just great then after watching a couple of videos the screen went black and I had to start the tablet up again from scratch, Happened a couple of times. Hasn't happened again since but then again I am not watching the videos one after another - too scared to find out if it will crash again!!! Got the book and love it and was so happy to see the android version. I hope these blips can be sorted as The Manual of Acupuncture is by far the the best out there.

Josephine Wolf at March 11, 2015

Crashing on Note 3 This app worked fine on my nexus but since changing to a Note 3 it continually crashes (black screen before getting to the start screen). I have sent an error report but it is still crashing. Many reviewers are saying the same thing, please fix such an expensive app. If it has been $10 I would be less upset, but it was expensive.¶.Thank you for your reply Andy, I can't figure out how to reply to your message so I am editing my original message. I looked at my OS and it is Android 4.4.2

Misha Pernia at Jan. 8, 2015

Paid it. Got it. Disliking it. Why? Because many times I click on a point, it doesn't load up. I have to close the app, shut down its process and then reopen the app for it to work. On a night where I'm trying to get the most time out of studying. I'm wasting more time hating the app. Meanwhile, Clinic aid offers the same deadman does and gives you a free trial. The tests are also better, imo, wider range of areas to test self on, as well as different angles. All this app offers is video location & insert

Er Sc at Oct. 19, 2014

Great resource . The only issue I have is that it occasionally won't load point pages. Even points I just referenced. It will continue to not load pages even when I exit and reopen the app. The only fix is for me to exit, open app tools, force stop the app, then reopen and I can access points again. I have had the app for several days and this has only happened 3 times so far. Annoying but not enough to uninstall.

marius apetroaei at Dec. 6, 2014

Crashes 4 out of 5 times Very good when it works. It crashes and does not function anymore unless you perform a restart. Sometimes does not open at all leaving just a black screen (samsung note 2), or when browsing through, suddenly you get just a white screen and then you have to restart it again( LG G3) Please fix as is a very good app when it works

Stefan Price at Jan. 27, 2015

The most useful acupuncture app Excellent app, long time coming waited at least two years. Would have given 5 stars but like almost all apps has a few issues like the videos don't run in order, etc. The worse problem it freezing which happens every 3rd or 4th time that I use it, which requires me to restart my phone to get it working again.

Diane Carter at Sept. 27, 2014

Painfully slow Takes at least 5 min to open on my Asus tablet and then 5-6 min to go between screens. I love the information in it, but can't spend so much time to access it.
